Artist Robert Love evokes nostalgia with this wonderful miniature of the Parkette Drive-In landmark sign located in Lexington, Kentucky. 

The Parkette was first opened in November of 1951. The drive-in was a destination for classic car enthusiasts, and everyone who dreamed of simpler times and carefree high school days.

The restaurant, known for its fried chicken and fish served in boxes, “Po Boy” double-decker burgers made-to-order, chili dogs, onion rings and hand-spun milkshakes, was open for 70 years on New Circle Road.

The Parkette Drive-In closed in June 2022, and while the building has since been demolished, the iconic towering neon sign will stay. Family of the property owners intend to restore the sign and pursue historical marker designation.
